What you do: Design a Fully playable Role Playing Game based around the concept of “Human Augmentation” This can be through any means you feel would make a great setting.  You may use any OGL system currently available or create your own system. If you choose to use d20 as your system we ask you be creative as to make the system stand out by creating variations to the system.

What we will do: There are 2 rounds to this contest. The first round will be open to all participants and will last approximately 2 months. After the deadline we will take several weeks to review the submissions and announce the 3 finalists. The Finalists will then have an additional month to fine tune their entry based on comments and critiques by the Heroic Journey Publishing Staff.

The winning game designer will be given a standard contract with HJP and their entry will be given a full product development from manuscript to printed product and join the HJP Product catalog by the 2011 Calendar year.

Disclaimer: The writer will own all IP information but HJP will be in legal control of all entrants from the time of submission to the announcement of a winner. All non winning Designs Intellectual Property will then transfer back to the original owners once the contest is over. The winning Design Intellectual Property will remain under the control of HJP based upon the contract signed by the winner. The terms of the contract will become the terms between the winner and HJP with HJP controlling the Intellectual property with the designer owning it. The terms of the contract will include compensation for the Owner during the length of the contract with HJP based on a revenue sharing plan. The Winner will also be allowed to develop the line further with HJP for the term of the contract. Current HJP Employees and Contract holders are ineligible to enter.

HJP has just finished the contract to Bring Elemental Clash a TCG game developed by Andreas Propst and will be producing the TCG this coming year. We will have more information coming along as we get more details but find more information over at http://elementalclash.com/

There has been a lot going on which has kept me from updating. I have been working on much in the wayof business and it has required a step back so the Company can take huge leaps forward.

First Heroic Journey Publishing has Become Heroic Journey Publishing Inc. this took up most of April and May to do all the while I was continuing to promote BHB. This also means I have a new business partner who has come aboard to help me in producing more in house games and product lines.

First let me introduce Chris Perrin as part owner and my business partner. He brings a ton of creativity and a strong work ethic. He has the ability and quality to help HJP grow beyond a simple print house and into a solid gaming company which is still devoted to helping unpublished game developers and authors get published.

Next I can say we are currently working on 4 new product lines some of which will be released this year. We will have official PR on those projects as they get done but they are big projects and they take up a lot of my time coordinating their work. This is what I can say. One product line will be OGL/Pathfinder and one will be a Fate Based Cthulhu inspired game which I have started a development blog over at www.cthulhu-calls.com . The other two I can not say anything about do to some agreements I still need to finalize.

Speaking of those agreements I have been working very hard to come to a few partnerships with a couple other companies which will be a very good thing for Heroic Journey Publishing. One of them we are about to release the info on but we have to wait another week or so before we can. I really want to tell you becasue it is very cool.

That is it for now. Looking back over the last 3 or so months it excites me to see what the future holds. We had a solid Origins showing as limited as it was, but we should be more of a presence at Gen Con with IPR having our book, Bounty Head Bebop. Sales have been strong so far and we are hoping that we can sell out at Gen Con. There are 6 events being ran at Gen Con and I plan on having a HJP rep wandering the halls with some free swag (a quick adventure perhaps) to give out.

I will have more later I promise

Have you always wanted to have something you create in an RPG book? Would you like your character to join the canon of characters in your favorite system/setting, well now it can?  Heroic Journey Publishing is going to give you your chance!

Here is what we are looking for. We want interesting characters who fly interesting space ships. Your crew and Ship can now be immortalized in the pages of the Upcoming Spaceship book. What we need from you is 250-750 words describing your character and your ship and we will accept art as well, though this not not necessary.  Winners will have their characters written into the setting and made a part fo the book, they will also recieve an autographed copy of BHB by several members of he creative team.

For Immediate Release

BOUNTY HEADS INVADE INDIEPRESSREVOLUTION.COM

March 3, 2009 St. Paul, MN

The revolution has come. The worst scum the universe has even known have found a new home on the Internet at www.indiepressrevolution.com. The good news for gamers is that starting today, these villains can be captured by buying a copy of Heroic Journey Publishing’s Bounty Head Bebop from the Indie Press Revolution website.

Bounty Head Bebop is the far modern game of criminals and the bounty hunters who catch them. It uses the Inverted 20, or i20, system for a rules quick game of cinematic action in a universe filled with bad guys, big guns, feng shui powers, and cybernetics. It’s not for the faint of heart, but it is the game for those looking to make crime pay.

Also, exclusive to Indie Press Revolution, Heroic Journey Publishing is going to release Bounty Head Bebop: Ghost in the Machine, the first adventure for Bounty Head Bebop. This book is a good sized adventure that forces characters to confront a ghost who haunts their spacecraft. There’s only one problem. They don’t know their ship is haunted until they find themselves in deep space and under attack.

Brennan Taylor, co-founder of Indie Press Revolution, is excited about adding Bounty Head Bebop to his site’s already impressive collection of titles. “I was intrigued when I got a look at BHB, and after I read through the game I knew it would be a great addition to our lineup at Indie Press Revolution.”

Herioc Journey Publishing’s owner, Mark Reed, is looking forward to being able to offer his products on Indie Press Revolution. The site has a great reputation as the destination for carrying quality games and Reed knows it will lend greater exposure to his product.

The core Bounty Head Bebop book will be available in print and BHB: Ghost in the Machine will be available as a PDF download from IndiePressRevolution.com. Bounty Head Bebop will be priced at $24.99 and BHB:Ghost in the Machine will retail for $3.99.

Bounty Head Bebop, Bounty Head Bebop: Jacked Up! and the free download Bounty Head Bebop will continue to be available for purchase at RPGNow.com and from the Heroic Journey website (www.heroic-journey.net.)

ATTENTION ALL STORYTELLERS - HEROIC JOURNEY PUBLISHING WANTS YOUR STORIES

February 4, 2009 St. Paul, MN

Do you have a story the world needs to hear?  Are you a writer with a novel, but still in search for a publisher?  If so, Heroic Journey Publishing is looking for you!

For the past several months, Heroic Journey Publishing has been accepting role playing game submissions.  The goal: take games from “almost done” to “published game.”  Now, Heroic Journey is pleased to announce that it is ready to publish novel-length books and is looking for a few good novels.

Any authors who have finished manuscripts, but do not yet have a publisher, may submit to Heroic Journey Publishing by emailing hjpsubmissions@gmail.com.  Submissions must be the first three chapters of a finished novel in single column Microsoft Word, RTF, or TXT format.  Submissions may be done with or without an agent, though agent submissions are preferred.

Submissions will be judged on the quality of the work and how close the book is to being publication-ready.  Any genres will be considered, though submissions may be turned down if the material is deemed too violent, too pornographic, or if it glorifies illegal activities. The full length manuscript may be requested if a submission is deemed publishable.

If a manuscript is selected for publication, Heroic Journey Publishing will recommend an editor for the novel, lay it out, and provide the front and back cover art and wording.  The book can also be placed in distribution and will be available for purchase on Amazon.com and BN.com.  Contract terms will be favorable to the author.

This is not a contest and there is no fee to enter.  The author retains all rights to the manuscript until a contract is signed.  If a manuscript is submitted and the author chooses not to publish their book with Heroic Journey Publishing, the manuscript will not be used further by Heroic Journey Publishing.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Mark Reed at Heroic Journey Publishing at hjpsubmissions@gmail.com.
